Location:
5858 Old Hwy 12, Walla Walla, WA 99362
Description:
Library and barrel tastings of our Mr. Owl's Red. $5 tasting fee waived with wine purchase; complimentary for wine club members. Just who is Mr. Owl? When the REININGER children were very young, they had difficulty pronouncing the name of the nice young man who had just began working with us. Tessa Rose and Reid would walk inside our old tin shackteau at the Walla Walla Airport and greet him with, "Hello, Mr. Owl!" This red blend is made in honor of Raul, who has since become our Assistant Winemaker and is very special to us and our winery. A percentage of the wine's proceeds go to a charity of Raul's choosing, Friends of Farm Labor Homes Community in Walla Walla. The blend changes with each vintage: 2009: 50% Syrah, 46% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot 2008: 88% Merlot, 7% Syrah, 5% Sangiovese (sold out) 2002: 91% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Syrah, 1% Cab Franc, .5% Carmenere, .5% Sangiovese
