In this 9-hour course, Certified Educator and Sommelier Dieter Schafer introduces you to wine types, grapes, varietals, and wine regions of the world, as well as the basics of reading a wine label. Located in an old blacksmith shop at 3rd & Birch, Forgeron Cellars is within easy walking distance from Walla Walla’s major hotels and restaurants. As guests tour through the tank and barrel rooms, they are given an intimate look into the mechanics of winemaking while being treated to award-winning red and white wines. Every tour includes insight into Marie-Eve’s winemaking philosophy and how it affects each individual wine’s character and makeup.

The Olympic Peninsula Wineries are taking the quintessential pairing of red wine & chocolate to new heights this year, featuring a host of never imagined sweet and savory combinations during the annual Red Wine & Chocolate Tour, Feb. 8-9 and Feb. 15-17 (Presidents’ Day Weekend) from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. “Nothing is more delicious than a good red wine and the right chocolate shared amid the beauty of the North Olympic Peninsula,” says Association President Vicki Corson. “Participants who visit all eight of our wineries will be entered into a drawing for an elegant wine-themed gift basket.” Tickets may be purchased via PayPal and at participating wineries during the event. The $30 ticket and glass package entitles you to a special commemorative wine glass, complimentary wine tasting at all OPW Wineries and delectable samples of chocolate at each winery during the Red Wine & Chocolate Weekends. New this year is the option of a half ticket. The half ticket includes tasting fees at four of the OPW wineries, special commemorative wine glass, and delectable samples of chocolate at each winery during the Red Wine & Chocolate Weekends. Half tickets are available online for $20. This event does not take place at one location. You travel from winery to winery, visiting the ones you are interested in exploring. Tickets are not required to attend this event. A $5.00 wine tasting fee will be charged at each winery for non-ticketed visitors. You must be 21 or over to purchase tickets and/or participate in wine tasting. All ticket sales are non-refundable. The Olympic Peninsula Wineries encourage responsible wine touring and recommend that you have a designated driver in your group. Designated Drivers are invited to enjoy chocolate samples at each winery.

The Love Bites class will focus on all chocolate desserts. Make this a fun date and cook as a couple, or learn a new dessert to make at home and impress your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day. Singles welcome too! Menu – Chocolate Red Wine Infused Truffles, Chocolate Filigree Hearts and Pots de Crème. During the classes you will sample Three Rivers wines, participate in hands-on cooking, enjoy what you helped prepare, and take home a copy of the featured recipes. Wine will be available to purchase for those who would like to enjoy a glass while cooking. Chef Sarah Roy is best known for her Indian cooking and specializes in curry dishes. She owns a catering company called Sipid Bites and has done many events for Three Rivers Winery in the past. We are very excited to share her knowledge with you in a fun and relaxed environment!
