Lake Chelan Winterfest: Fire & Ice

During the Martin Luther King holiday weekend, the charming town of Chelan will be transformed into a winter paradise for its annual weekend-long event, Lake Chelan Winterfest: Fire & Ice. Visitors will marvel at an outdoor gallery of ice sculptures created in front-of-the-public by talented Northwest sculptors. Beginning Friday afternoon through Saturday evening, teams of two sculptors will each create massive pieces of art out of a 2,400 pound bricks of ice. A Winterfest tradition, visitors can enjoy sleigh rides through Historic Downtown Chelan, making their way to Chelan’s Don Morse Park, which will be turned into a winter playground with ice skating and other snow games. After a day in the snow, visitors can head to the Ice and Snow Bar featuring music throughout the day or warm up with a bowl of homemade chili and hot drinks around the fire pit. The weekend festivities will conclude with the annual “Fire and Ice” themed torchlight parade and a fireworks show on Monday. In addition, the Lake Chelan Wine Growers invites attendees to enjoy wine events, specials, bonfires, spiced wine and entertainment all weekend at the boutique wineries of the Chelan Valley. Tendrils Vineyard Restaurant’s new Executive Chef Joe Ritchie and Cave B Estate Winery Winemaker Freddy Arredondo team up with acclaimed guest chef Jason Wilson of "Crush" to provide hands-on food and wine education experiences. A portion of the proceeds from these 3-day weekend programs will benefit two Washington state hunger relief organizations, Food Lifeline and Second Harvest Inland Northwest. Tendrils Vineyard Restaurant’s Executive Chef Joe Ritchie and Cave B Estate Winery Winemaker Freddy Arredondo team up with acclaimed guest chefs to provide an intensive culinary learning experience. Students will work directly with the chefs, learning both the techniques and creative process behind preparing extraordinary food. In addition, students will receive instruction from award-winning winemaker Freddy Arredondo and will have the opportunity to create their own custom wine blend.
