Latest Update of Washington State Wine’s Award-Winning App Offers a Robust Education with Notes of HumorRelease Date: April 16, 2014
SEATTLE (April 16, 2014) — Washington State Wine has released the newest version of The Recommendeuer, its award-winning iPad and iPhone application offering an in-depth regional wine immersion led by actor and comedian Greg Proops. Updated content includes a live and interactive American Viticultural Area map, new video content and outtakes, the 2013 harvest report, new vintage summaries, this year’s Washington State Wine Award winners, direct access to the Washington State Wine trade website and the current Washington State Wine Tour Guide.
“The new content presents an even more detailed overview of our wine regions,” said Steve Warner, president of Washington State Wine. “App users can look up specific vintages, access real-time weather information and plan a trip to wine country. And those who love Greg Proops will enjoy the outtake video.”
The Recommendeuer recently received 10 awards from three prestigious advertising campaign competitions, including the American Advertising Awards, or ADDYs, the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition.
The American Advertising Awards, which recognizes and rewards the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising, honored The Recommendeuer with three Silver ADDYs for Integrated Campaign, Tablet and Non-Traditional Advertising at the Seattle awards and two Silver ADDYs for Tablet and Non-Traditional Advertising at the District awards.
In addition, two of the videos in The Recommendeuer received Telly Awards, which recognize the finest film and video productions; groundbreaking web commercial, videos and films; and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs. The “Pairings” video won a Silver Award for Use of Humor, and the “Varietals” video won Bronze in the same category.
The Recommendeuer also received the Best Beverage Interactive Application Award from the Internet Advertising Awards, the first and only industry-based advertising award competition dedicated exclusively to online advertising.
“We’re honored to receive such recognition,” said Warner. “Our goal with The Recommendeuer was to provide an educational resource that simultaneously stretched creative boundaries. The response to the app has been overwhelmingly positive.”
The app — which can be downloaded for free from the Apple AppStore here — is part of a national marketing campaign targeting the wine buyers, sommeliers and journalists who help shape consumer purchasing decisions. Washington State Wine worked with Seattle-based integrated marketing agency GreenRubino and consulted several wine professionals to curate the extensive and thorough educational content on the app.Download PDF
