Our Story

Gilbert Cellars is where tradition meets innovation, where home meets exploration, where our past meets our future, where our mountains meet our valley. In the wine that is created under these contrasting and fascinating circumstances are the spirited and genuine moments shared with people you love.

Our winery was started in 2004 by brothers Nate and Sean Gilbert with the intention of making great wine that showcases our family’s vineyard. Most of our grapes are grown on the Wahluke Slope near Mattawa by Curtiss Gilbert who makes sure that production yields are kept low and our fruit is concentrated and balanced. Winemaker Justin Neufeld produces our wine in small lots that are powerfully flavorful yet delicately balanced. We believe that Syrah should be a full-bodied, hedonistic red wine, Chardonnay is best enjoyed with a kiss of oak, and Bordeaux varieties should offer a balance of bright fruit, juicy tannins, and a lingering, delicious finish.
