Yearly Production (in cases)
Launched in 1999, Eroica is a labor of love for two of the world’s great Riesling producers. One from the Old World, Dr. Loosen estate of Germany, and the other from the New World, Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington state. It’s an intermingling of Old World and New World philosophy and technique to craft an extraordinary Riesling from Washington state grapes. Named for Beethoven’s Third Symphony, Eroica reflects not only its variety and site, but also its heritage: bold and forward from its Washington roots, elegant and refined from German inspiration.
Ernst Loosen and Chateau Ste. Michelle winemaker Bob Bertheau collaborate on everything from site selection, irrigation management, crop levels and canopy management in the vineyard, to making the final Eroica blend.
Eroica has been recognized by critics as a “shining star” in the world of Riesling. It set the bar for American Riesling by having the first five vintages named to Wine Spectator Magazine's "Top 100" list.
The partnership also produces Single Berry Select, which is made in the traditional German Trockenbeerenauslese style and is one of the few TBAs in North America.
