Our Story
Fifteen years after his first harvest in the Columbia Valley in 1984, acclaimed winemaker Mike Januik realized a long held dream by founding his own winery in 1999. Over the years, Mike has had the unique opportunity to work with a tremendous range of vineyards throughout the state, and it is this experience that enables him to focus on making small amounts of wine from those vineyards that he considers to be among the very best in the state.
In addition to making his own wines, Mike has made Novelty Hill wines since the winery’s debut in 2000. In 2007, the two independent wineries – Januik and Novelty Hill – opened a state-of-the-art production facility and tasting room in the heart of Woodinville’s fast growing winery touring district together. The destination winery offers guests a variety of classes, dinners and tasting experiences showcasing a diverse selection of award-winning wines under one roof. The building’s contemporary design and surrounding gardens invite visitors to stroll gardens inspired by the geometry of the vineyard; survey fermentation and barrel aging from an expansive corridor overlooking the cellar; enjoy a game of bocce ball; or simply slow down and linger over a glass of wine around the outdoor fire pit.
The Woodinville winery also features four distinct private function rooms easily customized to individual needs ranging from corporate meetings to celebratory events. An in-house culinary team caters to groups seeking a unique meeting experience or a memorable setting to mark a special occasion.
