Our Story

Novelty Hill is a small, independent winery crafting limited quantities of elegant wines from the Columbia Valley’s finest vineyards, including Stillwater Creek, its own estate vineyard on the Royal Slope of the Frenchman Hills. “The rare trifecta – a great vineyard, an experienced winemaker and a price-to-value ratio that is among the best in the country – sets Novelty Hill apart,” wrote Washington wine critic and author Paul Gregutt in his most recent book on Washington wines.

Committed to delivering consistent, high quality wines through careful nurturing from vine to bottle, the winery is dedicated to innovative clonal selection, sound viticultural practices and gentle, artisan winemaking. Winemaker Mike Januik, one of Washington's most acclaimed vintners, has been crafting Novelty Hill’s wines for richness and balance to capture the finest expression of the fruit and the growing region since the winery’s founding in 2000.

Together with Mike, Novelty Hill opened a state-of-the-art destination winery and tasting room in the heart of Woodinville’s fast growing winery touring district 25 minutes northeast of Seattle in 2007. The building unites two independent estates − Novelty Hill Winery and Januik Winery − under one roof and offers guests a variety of classes, dinners and tasting experiences showcasing a diverse selection of award-winning wines.

The winery’s contemporary design and surrounding gardens invite visitors to relax and enjoy. Stroll gardens inspired by the geometry of the vineyard. Survey the fermentation and barrel aging rooms from an expansive corridor overlooking the cellar. Enjoy a game of bocce ball or simply slow down and linger over a glass of wine by the outdoor fireplace.

The Woodinville winery also features four distinct private function rooms easily customized to individual needs ranging from corporate meetings to celebratory events. An in-house culinary team caters to groups seeking a unique meeting experience or a memorable setting to mark a special occasion.
