Our Story

Rita Jorgensen had a vision when she moved to Yakima Washington and that was to develop a business she always dreamed of. While Plaza Winery started in the YVCC campus in Grandview she decided to open a tasting room and restaurant, due to not having foot traffic in Grandview. While in this place is we Plaza Winery became a name to a lot of fellow neighbors who we now call friends. In April of 2009 Plaza Winery moved from the Incubator campus to the wine makers loft at 357 Port Ave in Prosser. This is when she realized that wine was her passion and the interaction of not only Yakima natives but the whole state loved her wine. When she passed away in August of 2009 it was decided by her True Love Bryan and her Son Kevin to keep her spirit alive and this is the true reason of this winery still going strong today.
We have now bottled our Super Tuscan Wine which is a blend of Sangiovese from Chateau Champoux vineyard and the cabernet sauvignon From coyote Canyon vineyard. This was the First wine we sold out of in the first year of business which also won three awards. We are constantly looking to see what the customer wants, and how we can provide it to anywhere in the state or country in that matter. We just want to keep people happy.
Plaza Winery has wines that are from the same vineyards as wineries in Walla Walla but for the fraction of the price.
We have the Deep velvet’s and fruity Syrah. Bold two vineyard cabernet sauvignon Bold but smooth Merlot that is from two Jim Willard and Chandler Reach. We have a sweet nice Merlot Rose’ which is completely dry and completely Rose’. A true white Rome blend fermented just how it is done in France. We have an off dry Riesling as well as a Dry Riesling. We are in the process of bottling a True Bordeaux blend from varies high quality vineyards. Rejua will be our last of this month as well with our Taranga national wine.
Plaza Winery in it’s second year made 2000 cases of wine in the year of 2009 and its going to bottle 3000 in it’s third year of production. Plaza Winery as Has Charleston Distributing as its distributor for the Washington state area. Our goal is to be in every city, town and are throughout the northwest. If you live any were and are looking for a way to get wine to you we also ship.
