Vashon Winery, Chasselas Dore

Stainless steel barrel fermented, some lees contact, complete MLF, barrel-aged. This grape is grown on island and we compete for the grapes with disease problems, birds, and last year, raccoons. It is possibly the oldest surviving vineyard in western Washington, planted in 1950. And the Chasselas Dore is one of the oldest grapes known to mankind. It is light and delicate and reminds of a light Chardonnay but with hints of cooked rice. Perfect to serve with Puget Sound mussels.
