    • WHITE WINE OF THE YEAR, Seattle Magazine - 2014 Vintage Our flagship Chardonnay is modeled after the elegant, rich, and complex, classic Chardonnays of Burgundy. Our French born winemaker, Marie-Eve Gilla, earned her degrees in enology and viticulture from the University of Dijon in Burgundy, France--the premier region for Chardonnay. This is a wine for Chardonnay lovers, but even those who turn their nose at this white variety have been known to convert! • ANVIL Dionysus Cabernet

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • Rich, full, creamy, and intense. Aromas of black pepper, violets, black currants, and dried herbs. Planted in 1988, Dionysus has some of the oldest vines in Washington State. These old vines benefit from an established root system, regulating vigor and allowing the vines to consistently produce rich, dense and generous grapes. Our rows follow the slope towards the southwest, almost 45 degrees off due north, which allows for nearly perfect sun exposure while minimizing over-ripening. As the sun lowers down in the evenings, both sides of the canopy receive evening sun, giving incredible evenness and consistency. Old vine Cabernet Sauvignon has become the remarkable flagship variety of Dionysus Vineyard. In 2008, we started sourcing Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from block 12 and later on experimented with Petit Verdot from Block 11 which adds generous flavors and great texture. We like to do an extended maceration post-fermentation for a total time on skins up to 45 days. During

  • Forgernon Cellars Façon Blanc

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • Façon [FAH-son] is French for the style or way of doing something. Our Façon Blanc and Façon Rouge wines speak to our unique style at Forgeron: inspired by Marie-Eve’s French training and heritage, and decades of experience showcasting Washington terroir. Inspired by long, relaxing afternoons on the pétanque courts of Provence, the blend pedigree may be French, but this wine is a beautiful expression of Columbia Valley. Winemaker Marie-Eve Gilla loves to make and enjoy white wines and is attracted to these Southern France varieties which have great potential to stand up to the heat we get in Eastern WA. When harvested in time, we can really extract the flavors, fullness, and ripeness while still making an elegant and refreshing wine. • Forgernon Cellars Barbera

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • Barbera takes well to the sun and dry conditions of Eastern Washington, retaining acids and all the berry flavors; the low level of tannins make it a wine easy to enjoy without the need for complicated food. This wine is vibrant, fresh and uplifting. Bursting with flavors of huckleberry cobbler, ripe currant, rich fruit, and pomegranate. FOOD & WINE PAIRING: pork loin, BBQ chicken

  • Forgernon Cellars Malbec

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • Malbec is a great fit for Eastern Washington’s dry and hot climate, particularly in the hottest AVA - the Wahluke Slope where StoneTree Vineyard is located. Here it can fully express its potential with supple and ripe tannins combined with ample fruit aromas. We like to blend a bit of Minnick Hills Malbec from the Walla Walla Valley which ripens later and adds a great note of freshness to the wine. We age our Malbec in oak - like the higher-end Malbecs of the world - which creates a refined, balanced, and more complex profile. FOOD & WINE PAIRING: baked ziti with Italian sausage, spaghetti Bolognese, skirt steak with chimichurri sauce

  • Forgeron Cellars Zinfandel

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • Zinfandel is notoriously difficult to grow and fully ripen in the vineyard, and then requires finesse in the cellar to create a balanced wine because of the high alcohol. Since first taking a chance on Washington Zinfandel when we started the winery in 2001, this wine has come to be what we would consider a cult classic. This wine is spicy, with flavors of dark chocolate, licorice, boysenberry, and brown sugar. FOOD & WINE PAIRING: Medium rare grilled steak with melted Gorgonzola

Our Cabernet is firm, structured, geniune and age-worthy, a result of patience and restraint used in the vineyard and cellar. We chose some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley based on the fruit quality (dense red fruit with rich earth and minerality) and the grower’s respect for the land. Taste berry fruit, chocolate covered cherries, and dried plums. This wine is full-bodied with texture from big tannins.
