Kontos Cellars

Open to the Public

Saturday and Sunday 11:30-4:30. Closed Jan-Feb

Inspired by our father Cliff Kontos of Fort Walla Walla Cellars. We began dreaming of this journey on the crush pad of Forgeron Cellars, amongst the wheat fields overlooking the Touchet River, and relaxing in the hot tub sampling Walla Walla's fines

  • 2013 Gossamer White

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • “On Gossamer Wings” This elegant white blend consists of a delicious, lightly oaked Chardonnay infused with a delicate Viognier. The splendid citrus tones of pineapple and grapefruit are gently laced through hazelnut , honeydew melon, and caramel apple, revealing a subtle cream-sickle flavor. Take a sip, close your eyes, and enjoy. Every aspect of this blend dances on gossamer wings.

  • Les Collines Syrah

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • A wonderfully robust and fruit forward Walla Walla Syrah that carries very little of the earthy barnyard character of some, making this wine approachable and accommodating for any occasion.  The beautifully intense color of a classic syrah mingles with the playful floral aromas of rose petal and wild flowers. Bacon and tobacco hide amongst the rich stone fruits that anchor this wine.

    • We might have a problem with this temptress. She knows she is a stunner and not the slightest bit afraid to flaunt it. Perhaps a little too young and naive to keep up with some of the more worldly ladies right now, but she is on the verge of blossoming into a seductive vixen that will run with the best of them. Full bodied and layered in rich fruit, complex spice, and luscious oak that entertains every corner of the palate. The 07 Merlot will charm your wine drinking soul and challenge your morals.

    • Tasting Notes

    • Built on strong, rugged shoulders, this is a Cab Sauv that you can turn to in a time of need. Not necessarily smug, but exuding an air of confidence that will definitely take you where you need to go. Structured tannins and leather provide the perfect leading edge for Cranberries, Plum and Black Cherry. Let this Cab do all the heavy lifting while you sit back and relax.

  • Malbec

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • One of the most extracted Malbecs I’ve tasted. Dark Purplish color. Intense nose of wild berries (huckleberry and blackberry) with aromas of roast coffee crushed roses and a hint of violet. The flavors are dense, but not overpowering, building up on the back palate with undertones of minerals, bittersweet chocolate and coffee grounds. There is a plumy “sweet spot” in the middle, followed by extracts squeezing out into a ripe chewy tannin finish, dusted with white pepper. - Rand Sealey

  • Progeny Series

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • The 2011 Brynnan Blend (the latest offering from the Progeny Series) is a blend of 50% Cabernet, 20% Merlot, 20% Syrah, 10% Malbec. The Progeny Series is a blend of our favorite grapes and favorite barrels of that vintage. Each year, we name it after one of the kids in the family. Brynnan is Cameron's oldest daughter, and we are glad to have her join the lineup with Caimbry and Taylor!
