  • Grenache, Stillwater Creek Vineyard

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • Washington Grenache is on the rise these days and the only thing holding it back is the limited number of vines planted in the state. Fortunately for Novelty Hill Stillwater Creek, the winery’s estate vineyard, is one of those sites. Particularly well-known for the vineyard’s suitability to Rhone grapes, Grenache is planted on a steep, south-facing section of the vineyard, notable for large chunks of fractured basalt throughout the soil. By cropping the vines for low yields, the vineyard produces an exceptional example of this classic Rhone variety.

    • Tasting Notes

    • From one of Washington's "Top 20 Vineyards," as identified by Washington wine critic and author Paul Gregutt in his recent book, "Washington Wines and Wineries: The Essential Guide," comes this delicate, balanced Viognier true to its varietal character.

  • Syrah, Stillwater Creek Vineyard

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • Stillwater Creek, Novelty Hill’s estate vineyard, is located on a steep, south-facing slope on the Royal Slope of the Frenchman Hills, and the syrah is planted in a south-facing section of the vineyard where the soil composition is largely fractured basalt. More than one visitor has noticed the rocky soils are remarkably reminiscent of the Rhone Valley, perhaps one reason why the Syrah from this site is so outstanding.

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • Commonly used as a blending grape with Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon is also a delicious wine in its own right and here's an added benefit -- it ages beautifully. Ours offers a bright, luscious mouthful of fresh fig, citrus and a hint of honey that lingers on the generous finish.

  • Sangiovese, Stillwater Creek Vineyard

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • A favorite with the handmade pizza we serve at the winery, this is a bright, aromatic wine with layers of dark berry, cherry and plum unfolding on the palate. Smooth and supple with balanced tannins and loads of fruit that linger deliciously across a lengthy finish.

  • Merlot, Stillwater Creek

    • Overview

    • Tasting Notes

    • The Columbia Valley does well with a variety of grapes but few wines have captured the critics’ attention as singularly as Merlot. Deep, rich black cherry, raspberry and mocha aromas and flavors linger beautifully across a long, focused finish. Refined, well-integrated tannins add to the wine’s polish and grace.
