Saint Nick’s Winter in Woodinville Holiday Weekend Woodinville Wine Country’s annual St. Nick’s open house weekend is expanding this year to include a free, family-friendly holiday tree lighting and a ticketed, VIP evening wine tasting on the grounds of Chateau Ste. Michelle winery. Tickets will be sold separately for the popular Saturday and Sunday Saint Nick’s open house winery tasting. In addition to a souvenir wine glass and tasting booklet, this year’s admission also includes shopping coupons for use at participating wineries and a wine tote bag. SCHEDULE of EVENTS Friday, Nov. 30 5:30 – 6:30 pm Holiday Tree Lighting, Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery 14111 NE 145th Street, Woodinville FREE; Family-friendly event with usic, hot cider & more Friday, Nov. 30 7 – 9:30 pm Saint Nick’s at Night Wine Tasting, Chateau Ste. Portfolio invites the public to a Washington wine dinner. Enjoy exquisite food and wine, the breathtaking view of Elliott Bay from the fifth-floor restaurant, and learn about food-wine pairing. ~ ~ ~ Lauren Thompson is Portfolio Restaurant’s new Chef Instructor. She joined The Art Institute of Seattle in the fall of 2011. Chef Thompson brings to the restaurant and to the students a wealth of experience acquired at the award winning Café Juanita, where she was Chef de Cuisine for six years. Prior to that she worked for John Sundstrom at Lark and other chef owned restaurants. ~ ~ ~ Chef Thompson and upper-level students Steven Carter, Kelly Chess, Jonathan Dolbee, Corbin Englerth, Jayce Herrin, Andrew Hirth, Jamie Johnson, Andrea Jones, Jungyoon Lee, Janelle Mallonee, Kelsey McFadyen, Kayla Minier, Emma Ochs, Rosalie Shestak, Lacey Weickenmeier and Kimberly Young prepare a four-course Northwest menu accompanied by five Washington wines. ~ ~ ~ Learn from Portfolio Restaurant Manager/Sommelier Dieter Schafer the elements in the food and wine that make them great together.
