Arbor Crest First Friday with Deb Sheldon
Dates:
September 1, 2014 - September 30, 2014
Location:
808 West Main Street, 3rd Floor River Park Square, Spokane, WA 99201
Description:
I was raised on a small farm in Washington, an artist soul in a family of perfectly normal people. Even though they did not understand, my parents encouraged and tried to support my every crazy artistic idea. My paintings often illustrate my upbringing. Work hard, was always my fathers’ lesson. After my father died, I did a series of paintings of his tools. I believe that they are a more accurate depiction of him than a painting of his face. I also love to paint the quiet peacefulness of a country road or a big unbroken sky. My mother taught me to look up. As we walked the farm, she would say, “look at that sky, look at the colors in that tree”! Always looking. As I continue to pursue the artist’s life, my goals are still the lessons from my parents, work hard and look up.

September 5, 2014

17721 132nd Ave NE

Live music by The Alkis! For songwriter Carly Calbero and drummer Nika Wascher, The Alkis was an inevitability. After years of incorporating Wascher's unique drumming and harmonies, the switch to a band just made sense. In June they will be debuting their first EP - Bright Eyed Kids. You can expect some great things from this new Seattle band. The event is free of charge, and there are complimentary small bites. There will be wine flights, glasses of wine and bottles available to share with friends.
