Washington Winery Targets Restaurant Enthusiasts through New “Foodie Fridays” Columbia Winery’s Friday evening happy hour offers a new twist on food and wine pairings Woodinville, Wash. – Starting in November 2014, Columbia Winery will launch a new look to its popular happy hour series, featuring a rotation of “Foodie Fridays”, live music, and trivia. “Foodie Fridays” will fall on the first and third Friday of the month, offering a culinary experience that isn’t normally offered at the winery. Some dishes designed to pair with Columbia’s premium wines include gourmet sliders, savory Jambalaya, and Mexican inspired street tacos, as well as vegetarian and Gluten Free options. Familiar food options, such as Columbia Winery’s signature wood-fired flatbreads will still be offered throughout happy hour, as well as discounted wines by the glass and bottle. “The food is wine friendly with inspiration drawn from friends and family” said Tim Pockrandt, Head Chef at Columbia Winery. “Traditional fare with modern flare.” During “Foodie Fridays” guests are encouraged to post photos of their food and wine pairings on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, with #columbiafoodiefriday for a chance to win gift cards to use towards their purchases at the winery in the future. Columbia Winery Happy Hour Every Friday 5-7PM $5 off select bottles of wine and discounted select wines by the glass. Foodie Fridays Featured the first and third Friday of the month, select food options with discounted wines by the glass and bottle purchases will be offered. Trivia Nights Enjoyed best as a team, this trivia show falls on the second Friday of each month with Mark from Beat the Geek Trivia. Customers play for a chance to win gift cards to use at the winery. Live Music A rotation of well-known Northwest artist’s will perform a live set on the last Friday of the month. In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, the Wine Commission is notifying the public of the gathering. Although the public may attend the gathering, those outside of the invited list of community leaders, industry association leaders, and tourism leaders would be responsible for their own dinner costs.

After years of small harvests, in 2012 we finally got a large enough harvest of Carmenere to have enough to send to wine club and sell to the public. This weekend, we'll be pouring our 2012 REININGER Carmenere, along with library vintages. The wine produced from Seven Hills Carmenére grapes is gaining elegance with every passing vintage. It is the most intriguing fruit to work with at our winery due to its unique flavor profile and its dynamic maturity. Cheers!

The Anacortes Spring Wine Festival brings 32 wineries to Fidalgo Island for a weekend of decadent wine tasting, food pairings, live music, art, shopping, and blooming tulip fields.
