The pleasure of wine and wine education has been Angelo Tavernaro's life long passion. He has worked throughout Europe and in Las Vegas, NV in the hospitality industry. As a certified Wine educator and one of two Master Sommelier's in Washington State, Angelo has developed an extensive education in wine pairing, buying & tasting. This course prepares participants for employment in settings where wine is served and or tasted. Major concepts include the history of wine, major wine varietals, wine pouring/ tasting, food and wine pairing and the legal issues associated with wine service. Students must be 21 years old to participate in wine tasting. Classes will be taught using a combination of lectures, demonstrations, audiovisuals aids, role playing and wine tastings.

May 15: Puget Sound, Red Mountain, and Columbia Gorge AVAs.

Be part of the inaugural wine tour of Chehalis Valley wineries on May 3-4, 2008. Our 5 local wineries will be opening their facilities for barrel tasting and an opportunity to see where their wines are created. Come savor the delicious creations from the establishments of Birchfield Winery, Heymann Whinery, Scatter Creek Winery, Weatherwax Cellars, and Widgeon Hill Winery. Wine makers will be on hand to serve their upcoming vintages and to share their winemaking facilities. For the cost of $10 per person you’ll receive a glass and Passport at your first winery stop and that will identify you as a tour participant at the other wineries; you will receive 10% off all wine purchased during the Tour; and after visiting all the wineries, you will be entered in a drawing for baskets of wines of the Chehalis Valley wineries. Snacks will be provided at each stop. Times: Saturday, May 3, Noon-6 p.m.; Sunday, May 4, Noon-4 p.m.
