FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SEATTLE (July 31, 2025)—WAugust is back, and with it comes a month-long invitation to raise a glass of Washington wine.

Now in its fourth year, WAugust is a statewide celebration bringing together wine lovers, local businesses, and communities to honor the growers, makers, and stories behind every bottle. Whether it’s backyard barbecues, winery lawn parties, tasting room specials, or restaurant pairings, WAugust is your chance to sip boldly and celebrate loudly—all month long.

What began many years ago as Washington Wine Month has grown into a movement. All August long, wineries, tasting rooms, restaurants, and retailers will roll out exclusive events, offers, and experiences that showcase the energy, passion, and diversity of Washington’s wine scene.

Why is it important for Washingtonians to support our local wine industry? Not only do 80% of Washington wines score 90+ points proving quality at every price point, but the industry supports the state’s economy in important ways.

By the numbers, the Washington wine industry:

  • Contributes $10.56 Billion in economic impact to the local economy
  • Provides 51,400 jobs supporting local families and communities
  • Generates over $1 Billion in annual state and local tax revenue

“WAugust is a chance to reconnect with the incredible range and quality of Washington wine,” said Kristina Kelley, Executive Director or the Washington State Wine Commission. “Some of the most exciting wines in the country are being made right here in our own state – rooted in one of the most diverse and abundant agricultural regions in the world. Whether you’re exploring a new region or revisiting a favorite botte, there’s never been a better time to dive in and celebrate what makes Washington wine so special.”

Across the state, you’ll see WAugust in full force—in your favorite retail stores, in social feeds, and at the heart of wine country gatherings. Partners are turning up the volume with bold branding, in-store activations, and custom toolkits to celebrate proudly.
